Dave’s story is a testament to the determination and resilience required to become an airline pilot. His journey is filled with challenges, setbacks, and successes that can inspire and guide you on your own path.

Introduction to Dave's Journey:

Dave was born in the late 90s in France. Since his first flight as a passenger on an airliner, an Airbus A330, he grew up fascinated by airplanes, spending his childhood building model planes and dreaming of the skies. This was in 1997, since that day, the aviation bug has never left his head.

At school, Dave was a pretty average student. He relied on his abilities but never really studied. As aviation was Dave's dream, he knew very well that he had to be good at school to become a pilot, but whatever he could do, school was just not for him.

Eventually, at the age of 17, Dave took his first discovery flight in a flying club. This experience solidified his desire to become a pilot, however, he couldn't pursue any training due to financial reasons.

After a journey through high school without the slightest effort but mostly chaotic, Dave somehow passed his A level, with the aim of continuing his studies and then finding work in a field that he liked more or less.

Not being one of the best in school, the big doors the free cadets school program to become a pilot were closed to him. On top of that, self-financing his training was out of question, no job waiting in the end for a too big financial investment. At that moment the dream of becoming an airline pilot completely disappeared out of his mind.

One more detail is missing! Dave was living close to an air base, he then discovered an attraction to military aviation. Only an A level is necessary to apply, this is his last option to achieve his dream. Bingo! That's exactly what Dave needed. He just needed to pass a selection, he would then sign a contract and join the Air Force flying military aircrafts as an officer.

After a lot of commitment in the preparation for his selections, he successfully passed all the first stages of the competition before eventually failing his interview with the psychologist. The army is not for him. Big slap, the dream of becoming a pilot is gone, no other choice left but to continue his studies and go to university.

3 years later, Dave passed a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Engineering, this is not pilot, but never mind, at least he can work as close as possible to the planes. Dave's career then begins as an engineer for a big company. His career could now be perfect for many people, working 35 hours a week from Monday to Friday in fan office, but Dave realised that it is not at for him.

Still, the dream of becoming an airline pilot comes back from time to time. At this time, the only way for him is to self-finance the pilot training. He then saves his money and resumed his flights in a flying club to pass the Private Pilot Licence to fly for leisure. This was a monumental achievement and the first major milestone in his journey.

In the meantime Dave has put himself in contact with people who have succeeded and others who have not yet found the job. Some people achieved their dream but others failed, there was a big risk to take, but it didn't matter. It was better to regret after having tried and failed, than to regret never having tried.

While working as an engineer, Dave spent his evenings studying for his airline pilot theoretical exams, necessary step before going to a flight school. After 1 year of intensive studies, he passed his exams. He then obtained approval for a student loan from the bank, necessary to pay for his flight training. And, there it is, Dave quits his job to start an exciting adventure.

Once at a flight school, Dave spends finally flies again and starts his flight training and preparation. He continued his training, obtaining his instrument rating, commercial pilot license, and multi-engine rating. Each of these steps required dedication and hard work.

Today, Dave achieved his dream, he works as a pilot and flies all around the world. He has already around 5000 or 6000 hours of flight time in his logbook, mainly flying Airbus and Boeing aircrafts.
